Haas F1 Team allocates single Ferrari engine upgrade to Bearman for Monza

Haas F1 Team principal Ayao Komatsu has explained why only Oliver Bearman will use Ferrari’s updated power unit at the Monza Grand Prix, while Esteban Ocon will continue with the older specification.

Under the ADUO regulations, Ferrari is required to provide customer teams with at least one upgraded engine once the manufacturer introduces it to its own factory team. However, Ferrari only provided Haas with a single upgraded unit for the Italian Grand Prix, as the manufacturer prioritized its own two cars for Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

Komatsu noted that Monza is a power-sensitive circuit, making the upgrade particularly valuable for performance on the straights. While championship standings were a factor in the decision, Komatsu also cited previous component distributions, noting that Ocon had received priority on certain parts, such as brakes, in recent events.
