Haber7 claims existence of 200,000 Macedonian minority in Greece

The Turkish news outlet Haber7 has published claims alleging the existence of a 200,000-strong ‘Macedonian minority’ in the Florina region of Greece. The report uses a local judicial investigation in Florina as a basis to construct a narrative of alleged oppression and potential armed conflict.

The investigation in Florina was initiated following complaints regarding provocative song lyrics performed at a local festival in Meliti. Haber7 has linked this legal matter to extremist social media posts from an anonymous Facebook group called ‘Egejski Glas,’ which includes calls for armed uprising against both the Greek and North Macedonian governments.

These claims appear to be an attempt to manufacture a narrative of ethnic tension by misrepresenting local legal proceedings and social media rhetoric.
