Haßberge district calls for 2027 Art Prize applications

The Haßberge district has issued a call for applications for the 2027 Art Prize under the theme ‘Wurzeln und Weite’ (Roots and Expansiveness). The competition seeks professional visual artists whose work explores the tension between origin and departure, as well as connection and change.

Eligible participants must live and work in the Mainfranken region or the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region and demonstrate professional activity through catalogs, exhibitions, acquisitions, or professional association memberships. The prize, which has been awarded biennially since 2016, accepts various contemporary forms including painting, graphics, sculpture, installation, object art, performance, and media art.

Artists may submit up to three works created between 2024 and 2026. Applications must be submitted digitally and include biographical information, a description of the artistic approach, images of the works, a statement on the overall body of work, and proof of professional activity. An independent five-member jury will conduct an anonymous evaluation based on artistic quality, topical relevance, originality, and thematic connection. The application deadline is midnight on December 31, 2026.
