Habib Akdoğan's toast shop in Hatay features hundreds of customer photos
Habib Akdoğan, a toast shop owner in the İskenderun district of Hatay, has turned his business into a local landmark through a unique tradition of displaying customer photographs.
Starting in 2012 with just two photos hung on a string, the practice grew after customers began requesting to have their own pictures taken and displayed. Today, the walls of the shop are covered with hundreds of photos, serving as a visual history for regular visitors and tourists alike. Akdoğan notes that many customers from outside the city or even abroad find joy in seeing their decade-old photos preserved in the shop.
Akdoğan, who has 22 years of experience in the industry, shared that the business began as a small market with minimal equipment before evolving into the specialized toast shop known as ‘Tostçu Habib’. He also highlighted the family aspect of the business, noting that his son, Süleyman, works alongside him starting at 04:30 AM every day.
