Habiburokhman urges investigation into August 27 riot masterminds

Habiburokhman, Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has called on the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) to conduct a thorough investigation into the masterminds and financiers behind the riots that occurred during protests on August 27, 2026.

This push follows police efforts to investigate alleged criminal acts involving the exploitation of children during the unrest. Habiburokhman expressed full support for the police's actions in uncovering the potential involvement of minors in the riots, noting that such exploitation violates legal provisions and undermines democratic values. He emphasized that investigations must uncover the primary motives and the specific parties responsible for funding or orchestrating the chaos.
