Hacı Bayram Veli Museum showcases old Ankara's spiritual and commercial history

The Hacı Bayram Veli Museum, located in Ankara’s Altındağ district, showcases the spiritual and commercial history of old Ankara. Established in 2022 through a partnership between Hacı Bayram Veli University and Altındağ Municipality, the museum features over 60 artifacts.

The collection includes dervish dowries, traditional jewelry, healing bowls, and items used by the Ahi organization. A central highlight is the 'Murakka' cloak, a famous garment belonging to Hacı Bayram Veli that features 40 patches. Approximately 24 of the museum's pieces were transferred from the Ankara Ethnography Museum, while others were acquired through donations and municipal purchases.

Beyond its ethnographic value, the museum highlights the dual role of Hacı Bayram Veli as both a spiritual leader and an economic figure. Known as the 'Sultan of the Ahis,' he encouraged production and farming among his followers, playing a key role in the economic recovery of the region following the Battle of Ankara in 1402. The museum's artifacts date back to the 1350s, providing insight into the social and economic life of that era.
