HAC issues formal notice to Télé 24 over report on dismissed minister
The Haute Autorité de la Communication (HAC) has issued a formal notice to the private television station Télé 24 following a broadcast error. The regulator's decision follows a monitoring report of the station's 8:00 PM news program on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
The station aired a report on an official ceremony presided over by Mory Condé, the former Minister of Employment, Labor, and Social Protection. However, Condé had been dismissed from his position by presidential decree the previous day. The HAC stated that presenting the minister as still being in office constituted a ‘serious breach’ of professional rigor and fact-checking obligations, noting the content was likely to mislead the public.
As part of its decision, the HAC has ordered Télé 24 to immediately withdraw the report from all its broadcasting platforms. The regulator warned that this notice serves as a solemn warning, and any failure to comply or any subsequent recurrence could result in more severe sanctions, including the temporary suspension of the channel's programming.
