Hacienda del Río Bonao tourist project targeted by social media scams

Fraudsters are impersonating the Hacienda del Río Bonao tourist project on social media to scam travelers. The complex's manager, businessman José Cabrera, reported that unidentified individuals have been using the project's official videos, images, and information to create unauthorized Instagram accounts.

These fraudulent accounts pose as rental managers for houses and villas within the complex. After engaging with interested parties, the scammers demand bank deposits into various accounts to secure bookings. Among the victims is a deputy from the Puerto Plata province. Cabrera has called on authorities to investigate the situation, which has been ongoing for several weeks.
