Hacienda Heights woman charged with felony wage theft and tax fraud
Nora Elia Corrales, a 59-year-old woman from Hacienda Heights, has been charged with six felony counts related to wage theft and tax fraud at an unlicensed residential care facility in Diamond Bar.
Prosecutors allege that between October 2022 and July 2023, Corrales failed to pay employees minimum wage, required overtime, and mandatory rest and meal breaks. The total amount of stolen wages is estimated at approximately $121,027. Additionally, she is accused of failing to pay employment taxes to the California Employment Development Department and filing fraudulent tax reports to evade those taxes.
Corrales, who allegedly oversaw the facility's daily operations, faces four felony counts of wage theft and two felony counts of tax fraud. If convicted, she could face a maximum sentence of up to seven years and four months in state prison. She was arrested and remains in custody with bail set at $175,000.
