Hacinas celebrates traditional Santa Lucía patron saint festivals

The town of Hacinas in the province of Burgos is preparing to celebrate its traditional patron saint festivals in honor of Santa Lucía. The festivities are set to begin on September 18 with a formal proclamation, followed by various community activities including popular games and magic shows.

A central part of the celebration is the religious observance, which includes a nine-day novena at the Santa Lucía hermitage and multiple masses. On September 20, the traditional pilgrimage will take place, featuring musicians, traditional dances, and a floral offering to the Virgin. A notable custom during the mass involves rubbing a handkerchief on the eyes of the image of Santa Lucía. Due to recent restrictions from the Ministry of Development regarding road occupation, the procession has recently been rerouted from the main roads to the local natural surroundings.
