Hacks breaks Emmy records with 24 nominations for final season

The HBO Max comedy series ‘Hacks’ has set a new record at the Emmy Awards. Its fifth and final season has secured 24 nominations, the highest number of nominations for a comedy series in a single season. This surpasses the previous records held by ‘The Studio’ and ‘The Bear’. Additionally, the show has set a record for the most nominations received by a comedy series for a final season, overtaking ‘Schitt’s Creek’.

Lead actress Jean Smart, who has won seven Emmy awards, has received a nomination for her role as Deborah Vance. This marks her 15th Emmy nomination. If she wins the award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, she will join a rare group of performers to win the award in every season of a series lasting at least three seasons.

Following the conclusion of ‘Hacks’, Jean Smart is set to star in a new romantic comedy titled ‘Egg Baby’ for Amazon MGM Studios. The film, which is currently in pre-production for Prime Video, will feature Ariana Greenblatt. Directed by Natalia Anderson, the story follows a rebellious artist and an American football player who form a bond while caring for an egg as part of a health class project.
