Hadjer-Hadid launches climate-health resilience project

In Hadjer-Hadid, Chad, a new project has been launched to strengthen community resilience against the health impacts of extreme heat. Operating under the ‘One Health’ approach, the initiative will run from September 2026 to August 2027.

The project is funded by a 100,000 euro grant from the Sanofi Foundation, supplemented by 9,400 euros from Enfants du Monde. Implemented by the NGO NIRVANA in collaboration with the local health district, the program targets the villages of Bardé, Bredjing, and Darkbache.

Key actions include the chloration of six water points, the establishment of a climate-health alert system via SMS, radio, and WhatsApp, and the training of nine community relays. The project also aims to create three ‘water-health-climate’ committees to encourage local participation, particularly among women and youth, to combat dehydration and diarrheal diseases caused by rising temperatures.
