Hadramaut hosts first National Cochlear Implant Forum

The first National Cochlear Implant Forum has launched in Hadramaut, Yemen, held in conjunction with a surgical camp for children. The event is sponsored by the Presidential Leadership Council member and Governor of Hadramaut, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, alongside the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Mohammed Buhaybeh.

Funded by the global company MED-EL through its agent WIDE FIELD, the forum is organized by the Roh Health Foundation in partnership with Hadramaut University and Seiyun University. It features a wide range of specialists, including otolaryngologists, audiologists, and speech therapists. The program includes scientific sessions covering the causes of hearing loss, surgical planning, cochlear programming, and auditory-verbal rehabilitation.

Local officials emphasized that the forum aims to develop local medical expertise, bridge the gap between academic knowledge and clinical practice, and ensure the sustainability of specialized medical services in the region through partnerships between the government, academic institutions, and supporting organizations.
