Hadramaut officials coordinate drug prevention and local development

In Hadramaut, local officials and security leaders are coordinating efforts to combat drug abuse. Dr. Murad Baalawi, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth and Civil Society, met with Brigadier General Abdullah Lahmidi of the Drug Control Department to discuss enhancing awareness and prevention programs aimed at protecting youth and improving community security.

Separately, the Hadramaut Advisory Committee for Local Governance and Peacebuilding met with authorities in Tarim to address developmental priorities. Discussions focused on urgent infrastructure challenges, specifically sewage issues affecting the agricultural and environmental sectors. The committee recommended forming a joint task force to coordinate with donors and provincial leadership to implement solutions.

The committee also inspected an agricultural export center for onions and dates. The facility, which supports over 27,000 farmers and 1,000 exporters, utilizes specialized laboratories and cooling systems to meet international quality standards for global markets.
