Hadrien Brachet replaces Charles Sapin on France Inter
Hadrien Brachet, deputy political editor-in-chief at Le Point, has taken over the Sunday morning political editorial slot on France Inter. He succeeds Charles Sapin, whose brief tenure sparked significant internal unrest at Radio France.
Sapin, an associate editor at the conservative magazine Valeurs actuelles, delivered only two editorials before announcing his departure on September 19. His appointment had triggered intense opposition from Radio France staff, who criticized the choice of a representative from a publication they associated with far-right views. This contention led to two days of strikes on September 13 and 14, disrupting programming.
While the station's management defended the recruitment as an effort to promote editorial pluralism, the controversy also drew political scrutiny. The transition to Brachet is seen as an attempt to maintain the political editorial slot while moving past the open confrontation caused by the previous appointment.
