Hadyeh Khalaj receives Social Diversity Award in Berlin
Hadyeh Khalaj, the 18-year-old daughter of political refugees from Iran, was honored at the Social Diversity Awards in Berlin. She received the 2026 Inspiration of the Year award for being the first in her family to complete her Abitur.

Data from the Federal Statistical Office highlights the necessity of such initiatives, noting that in 2021, approximately 56 percent of adults aged 25 to 65 in Germany held university degrees. This rate is three times higher than for those whose parents only completed secondary education or vocational training.
