Haenam County construction site faces illegal subcontracting allegations

Allegations of illegal subcontracting and unpaid wages have surfaced regarding the construction of the Namdo Gwangyeok Memorial Park facilities in Haenam County. Eight different companies claim they have not received approximately 30 million won in labor costs, material expenses, and equipment rental fees.

According to reports, an individual identified as B allegedly impersonated the primary contractor by using a different company’s business registration and representative’s credentials to conduct transactions. While the primary contractor, Company A, admitted to negligence in managing the individual hired to coordinate suppliers, they claimed they were unaware of the impersonation.

Haenam County has suspended the payment of a remaining 400 million won installment and is reviewing administrative actions against the contractor for contract violations. The county faces criticism regarding its oversight of fund disbursements and whether it properly verified the actual recipients of the advance payments.
