Haeran Ryu clinches first major at 2026 Women’s PGA Championship
South Korean golfer Haeran Ryu captured her first major title at the 2026 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. She finished at 13‑under 275, two strokes ahead of countrywoman Ina Yoon, who posted 11‑under. Ryu overcame a 10‑shot first‑round deficit – the largest ever erased to win the event – by posting rounds of 64, 68 and a final‑round 70. The victory earned her a record $1.95 million winner’s purse, the biggest payday in women’s golf history. She led after three rounds and held off a late‑round challenge from Canada’s Brooke Henderson and the Netherlands’ Dewi Weber, who tied for third, while world No. 1 Nelly Korda finished tied for eighth. Ryu’s comeback was aided by a mid‑tournament putter change and a focus on trusting herself and her caddie.
