Haffner wins Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland

Haffner, a two-year-old colt sired by Justify, won the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland on Friday. Ridden by jockey Ryan Moore and trained by Aidan O’Brien, Haffner moved from a stalking position to overtake the leader, Avec Toi, inside the final furlong. The horse completed the mile in 1:35.19.

Folsom Blues finished second, while Avec Toi took third. The victory contributed to a successful day for European raiders, who swept the three turf races held on Friday. This win marks the 23rd Breeders’ Cup victory for trainer Aidan O’Brien and the 18th for jockey Ryan Moore.

In a notable family achievement, trainer Aidan O’Brien and his son, Joseph O’Brien, finished one-two on the card, as Joseph trained the runner-up, Folsom Blues.
