Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi receives Hubert Walter Award

Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Coordinator of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee, has received the ‘Hubert Walter Award for Reconciliation and Interfaith Cooperation 2026’ at Lambeth Palace.

Ashrafi dedicated the award to religious scholars, leaders, and intellectuals worldwide who work toward peace, reconciliation, and interfaith harmony. He stated that the honor recognizes the collective efforts of Muslim scholars and religious leaders to promote dialogue, counter extremism and terrorism, and establish peace.

During his remarks, Ashrafi emphasized the necessity of protecting minority rights and maintaining respect for the sacred values of all faiths. He also called for increased international efforts to address global security challenges through dialogue rather than violence, specifically highlighting the need for solidarity with people facing hardship in Palestine and Kashmir.
