Hafiz Naeem accuses PPP of losing public support across Sindh

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has rejected claims by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari regarding the party’s mandate in Karachi. Naeem alleged that the PPP faces growing public dissatisfaction across the entire Sindh province, not just in Karachi.

Naeem accused the PPP of using undemocratic methods to maintain political control, including manipulating constituency delimitations and rigging seven National Assembly seats in Karachi. He further alleged that the PPP secured the support of 32 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members to install a “bogus mayor” in the city. Challenging Bhutto-Zardari to substantiate his claims of public support, Naeem demanded the presentation of Form 45 election documents.

Addressing broader national issues, the JI leader cited a World Bank report stating that 23 per cent of Pakistan’s population lives below the poverty line. He criticized the government’s economic policies and noted rising poverty in Punjab. Additionally, Naeem highlighted concerns regarding the education sector, claiming a high failure rate in ninth-grade examinations in Punjab and accusing the provincial government of failing to improve educational facilities.
