Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman criticizes Sindh government and announces protests
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has issued several criticisms regarding the country's political and economic state. Addressing the Mir Raza Ali murder case, Naeem-ur-Rehman criticized the Sindh government and the Pakistan Peoples Party, alleging that the Sindh police system has been exposed and questioning the government's ability to deliver justice.
On economic issues, the JI leader criticized the petroleum levy, noting that the government has collected Rs1.9 trillion in such levies within a year. He argued that ordinary citizens face economic difficulties and a lack of security while a privileged class enjoys special benefits. He also announced that JI would hold sit-ins on August 16 outside various provincial governor and chief minister houses in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan to protest against the petroleum levy, independent power producers, and the lifestyles of the ruling elite.
Regarding regional issues, Naeem-ur-Rehman stated that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should have primary rights over the province's natural resources and minerals. He also called for the restoration of Pakistan-Afghanistan border trade and urged dialogue between Islamabad and Kabul to resolve disputes, emphasizing that Afghan territory should not be used for terrorism against Pakistan.
