Haguro High School wins Yamagata prefecture soccer championship

Haguro High School has secured its 10th victory and its first prefecture title in four years at the 105th All Japan High School Soccer Tournament Yamagata Prefectural Championship. The final, held at ND Soft Stadium Yamagata in Tendo City, saw Haguro defeat Yonezawa Chuo 4–2 after extra time.

After an early lead by midfielder Kaito Iizuka, Haguro fell behind 1–2 before Masato Kato equalized in the second half. During extra time, Iizuka scored a penalty following a foul by the opposing goalkeeper. Ren Ishigaki added a final goal in stoppage time to seal the victory. The team will proceed to the national tournament, which is scheduled to begin in the Tokyo metropolitan area on December 28.
