Hai Phong and Quang Ninh police arrest serial burglar targeting homes and safes

Police from Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province arrested Nguyen Văn Sáng, a 33‑year‑old suspect who repeatedly broke into residences, forced open safes and stole large amounts of cash, gold and foreign currency. Investigators said he operated across several districts, exploiting vacant homes to steal valuables worth over 1 billion VND (about $42,000) in a single incident in Quang Ninh and numerous other thefts in Hai Phong. The coordinated effort between the two police forces led to his detention and ongoing investigation into additional cases linked to the suspect.

Authorities indicated that Sáng has no stable occupation and moves frequently, using tools to pry doors and breach safes. The police continue to expand the inquiry to determine the full extent of his criminal activity and will prepare a case for prosecution.
