Hai Phong changes admission method for Japanese specialized high school class

The Hai Phong People's Committee has approved a new admission method for the 2027-2028 academic year at Tran Phu Specialized High School. Under this new plan, the Japanese language specialized class will no longer rely solely on Japanese language exams. Instead, a maximum of 50% of the enrollment quota will be determined by specialized Japanese exams, while the remaining portion will be selected based on English language exam results.

This marks a significant shift from previous years, when 100% of students entering the Japanese specialized class were selected through Japanese language proficiency tests. The decision, proposed by the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, has caused concern among parents. Many expressed anxiety that the change could disadvantage students who have dedicated years to mastering Japanese, as the competition for specialized slots may increase due to the inclusion of English exam scores.
