Hai Phong police prosecute medical clinic officials for extortion

Hai Phong police have prosecuted 19 individuals, including Tran Thi Thu Huong, the Deputy Director of Hai Phong Medical Service Co., Ltd., for extortion and tax evasion.

The investigation centers on the Phuong Do Polyclinic located in An Bien Ward, Hai Phong. Authorities allege that medical staff and doctors utilized deceptive tactics to exploit patients' anxieties regarding their health. Specifically, practitioners reportedly caused patients physical pain or induced fear about their medical conditions during procedures to coerce them into purchasing expensive “premium” service packages.

The clinic was established in 2017 by investor Lin Wei Min, a Chinese national. While Vu Trong Tien serves as the registered director, the investigation has focused on the systematic use of psychological manipulation to misappropriate patient funds.
