Hai Phong reports strong economic growth and land auction plans
Hai Phong is reporting strong socio-economic performance for the first eight months of 2026, with nine out of ten key indicators exceeding projected scenarios. State budget revenue is estimated at nearly 147 trillion VND, surpassing the eight-month plan by 22.5%. Export turnover reached approximately 42.2 billion USD, while foreign direct investment (FDI) attracted nearly 3.5 billion USD, a 1.8-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
In terms of infrastructure and housing, the city aims to complete 7,135 social housing units in 2026, with 2,050 units already finished by late August. Public investment disbursement has reached nearly 20 trillion VND, accounting for over 51% of the assigned plan. However, the industrial production index (IIP) growth rate for August was estimated at over 14%, falling short of the 17% target.
Additionally, the city has approved a plan to auction land use rights for 88 redundant administrative headquarters in 2026. These properties, totaling 41,312.88 square meters, are distributed across 48 wards and communes. The group includes 29 educational facilities, which represent the largest number and total area among the properties slated for auction.
