Hai Tien Beach sea dike project faces investor concerns
Local authorities in Thanh Hoa Province have addressed concerns from investors regarding a 430 billion VND sea dike project at the Hai Tien Beach Eco-Tourism Area. Dozens of resort, hotel, and restaurant owners submitted petitions to the provincial chairman, fearing the construction would destroy beaches and harm tourism.
Project consultants explained that the design utilizes a stepped component structure extending 35 to 37 meters into the sea. This method aims to stabilize hydraulics, minimize wave overflow, and maintain landscape accessibility for tourists. The design is based on models successfully implemented in Hue and Hoi An.
The project is divided into two sections: a 2km dike in Hoang Tien Commune costing 270 billion VND, and a 950m dike in Hoang Thanh Commune costing 160 billion VND. The construction is intended to mitigate erosion and damage caused by storms and is expected to be completed by March 2027.
