Haier and Midea drive built-in refrigerator trends in China

The Chinese home appliance market is seeing advancements in built-in refrigerator technology designed for minimalist kitchen aesthetics. Haier has led the development of the “Ultra-thin Zero-embedded Refrigerator Standard” (T/CAS 953-2024), a technical benchmark supported by organizations such as the China Light Industry Federation and the China Association for Standardization.

To achieve a seamless fit within standard 600mm deep cabinets, Haier utilizes a “594mm + 6mm” formula. The 594mm body depth combined with a 6mm scientific tolerance accounts for wall verticality errors, vibration damping to protect cabinetry, and construction tolerances. This design aims to prevent the appliance from protruding or causing door interference.

In the consumer market, Midea is offering significant discounts on large-capacity models. The Midea 750L double-door built-in refrigerator (BCD-750WKPZM) has seen price reductions to 4,233 CNY on JD.com through trade-in programs and subsidies. The unit features a height of 205cm and a thickness of 65.5cm, designed for high-capacity storage in integrated kitchen spaces.
