Haier Group and Tianjin University partner on brain-computer interface technology

Haier Group's healthcare brand, Yingkang Yisheng, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Tianjin University Brain-Computer Interaction and Human-Machine Fusion Haihe Laboratory. The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology from laboratory research to clinical application.

Under the agreement, the parties will establish a specialized BCI industrial fund to support innovation and project incubation. They will also create a public welfare fund to support the training of multidisciplinary talent in neuroscience, clinical medicine, and engineering. Yingkang Yisheng will provide clinical settings through its hospitals to build model BCI wards for testing and validating technologies related to neurological rehabilitation and brain disease diagnosis.

Haier Group Chairman and CEO Zhou Yunjie noted that the BCI industry is entering a critical period of industrialization. He projected that China's brain-computer interface market size could exceed 100 billion yuan by 2035.
