Haier Smart Home launches China's first AI pilot base for home appliances
Haier Smart Home has officially launched the construction of China's first National Artificial Intelligence Application Pilot Base (Pilot Base) focused on the home appliance sector in Qingdao. Recommended by the Ministry of Commerce and approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, the facility aims to transition AI innovation from isolated corporate efforts to industry-wide collaborative development.
The base is designed to address critical bottlenecks in the industry, including hardware adaptation, complex scene verification, and the lack of interoperability between different brands and devices. By providing shared capabilities, the center seeks to reduce the high costs and long cycles associated with repetitive individual investments in algorithms, computing power, and data.
The pilot base will focus on five core capabilities: product piloting, scene piloting, industrial piloting, large-scale promotion, and standards and security. It is intended to serve three primary roles: a connector for supply chain synergy, an accelerator for converting research into mass production, and an incubator for high-quality application deployment. During the launch ceremony, the base signed agreements with several ecosystem partners, including Huawei, China Mobile, and Alibaba Cloud, and established an ‘AI+ Consumption’ collaborative development matrix.
