Haikou Workers’ Activity Center completed in China

The Haikou Workers’ Activity Center, also known as the Workers’ Cultural Palace, has been completed in Haikou on Hainan Island. Designed by the Green Architecture Design & Research Institute of CADG, the 29,215-square-meter facility was developed for the Haikou Federation of Trade Unions.

Conceived under the concept of the ‘Tree of Life’ and organized as an ‘Ecological Settlement,’ the center aims to serve as a climate-sensitive public architecture model for the region’s warm and humid coastal climate. The complex integrates cultural, sporting, and training programs, functioning as a low-carbon urban oasis designed to be community-oriented and responsive to local environmental conditions.
