Severe storm hits Guadalajara, Jalisco, toppling trees and causing floods
A powerful summer storm swept through the Guadalajara metropolitan area on the night of July 27‑28, 2026, bringing strong winds, heavy rain and hail. The storm knocked down nearly 120 trees across several municipalities, including 76 in Guadalajara, 13 in San Pedro Tlaquepaque, seven in Zapopan and additional falls in El Salto, Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Tonalá and Poncitlán. Flooded roads, damaged homes, downed power lines and collapsed walls were reported, and at least 14 vehicles were crushed by fallen trunks.
