Hain Celestial to sell international business to Aurelius for $323 million
Hain Celestial has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its international business to the global private equity firm Aurelius for approximately $323 million in cash. The company expects net proceeds from the transaction to range between $305 million and $310 million, which will be utilized to reduce corporate debt.
The sale includes a wide range of international brands, such as Ella’s Kitchen, Joya, Natumi, Linda McCartney, Hartley’s, and New Covent Garden. This move is part of a broader strategic effort to streamline the company’s portfolio and focus on its North American operations.
Following the transaction, Hain Celestial’s North American portfolio will consist of brands including Celestial Seasonings, The Greek Gods, Earth’s Best Organic, Spectrum Organic, and MaraNatha. CEO Alison Lewis stated that the simplified portfolio will allow the company to concentrate resources on core growth opportunities and debt reduction.
