Haina man dies after fatal altercation with teenage cousin

A 22-year-old man, identified as Christopher Gómez, also known as ‘El Flaco’, has died following a physical altercation with his 17-year-old cousin in the El Carril district of Haina, San Cristóbal.

The incident occurred during the early hours of August 17. According to preliminary reports, a dispute arose between the two individuals regarding a motorcycle. During the argument, Gómez was struck in the head with a stone, causing severe injuries. He was transported to the Hospital Regional Docente Juan Pablo Pina, where he remained hospitalized for approximately one week before succumbing to his injuries on Sunday.

The 17-year-old cousin, identified as the alleged responsible party, was turned over to the National Police by his own family members. Authorities are currently conducting investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the fight. As the suspect is a minor, the legal proceedings will follow the specific legislation established in the Dominican Republic for adolescents.
