Hair care experts discuss managing damaged hair and seasonal hair loss

Hair care specialists have provided guidance on managing damaged and falling hair. Regarding chemically or heat-damaged hair, hairdresser Rami Jabali explains that because hair is a dead fiber, internal repair of already burned strands is not possible. While nutrition supports new growth, the only definitive solution for damaged lengths is cutting the hair to ensure a healthy, uniform mane.

In terms of hair loss, Dr. Steven Walker notes an increase in perceived hair shedding following the summer months. Trichologist Vladislav Tkachev clarifies that hair often takes about three months to detach after it has died, meaning current shedding may be a delayed reaction to past stress, hormonal changes, or nutritional deficiencies. Experts suggest that while losing approximately 14% of hair volume is normal, a continuous decrease in density or localized baldness requires attention. They also caution against indiscriminate supplementation, emphasizing that hair treatments should be personalized to the individual's specific needs.
