Hair care experts recommend seasonal rituals to protect against loss and sun damage

In Portugal, dermatology specialist Miguel Sánchez Viera, director of the Instituto de Dermatologia Integral, notes that hair shedding rises in autumn to an average of 100‑150 strands per day. He advises a three‑step ritual using Kérastase’s Genesis line: a double wash, the Genesis Renforcing Fondant for hydration, and a final anti‑hair‑loss serum. Additional factors such as stress, certain medications, postpartum changes, and low‑calorie diets may aggravate loss.

In Spain, Hospital Capilar’s specialist Dr. M.ª del Carmen Soto stresses the need for photoprotection during summer. She warns that UV radiation, heat, chlorine and sea‑salt can dry and weaken hair and irritate the scalp, especially for people with alopecia or sparse hair. Recommended measures include wearing hats or caps, applying UV‑protective scalp products, rinsing hair with fresh water after swimming, and using moisturizing treatments backed by dermatological research.
