Hair care experts share tips to prevent damage and manage frizz

Hair health is often compromised by repetitive daily habits that increase friction, tension, and thermal stress on hair fibers. Common damaging practices include scrubbing shampoo through the entire length of the hair rather than focusing on the scalp, skipping conditioner, rubbing wet hair aggressively with traditional towels, and detangling with forceful tugging from the roots.

To mitigate damage, experts recommend massaging the scalp only, applying conditioner from mid-lengths to ends, using microfiber towels or cotton shirts to pat hair dry, and detangling starting from the ends and working upward.

In response to the need for efficient care, stylist Mandys Peña, founder of Simply Mandys, has popularized a streamlined two-step anti-frizz routine. The method utilizes a leave-in conditioner containing hydrolyzed keratin, glycerin, aloe, and argan and macadamia oils to protect hair from heat styling, followed by an oil-serum to manage frizz and restore shine.
