Hair clip safety: Medical warnings and new flexible designs

Medical professionals and manufacturers are addressing the safety and comfort concerns associated with claw hair clips. Medical experts, including emergency room staff and doctors, have warned that wearing hard claw clips while driving can pose risks during an accident. If a driver's head strikes a headrest during sudden braking or an impact, these clips can cause head or neck injuries and may even require surgical removal.

In response to the discomfort and potential risks of traditional hard plastic clips, a new product called Ivyclip has been introduced. Designed to mitigate the pressure felt when leaning against headrests or office chairs, the clip is constructed from flexible thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). This medical-grade material allows the clip to deform elastically under pressure and return to its original shape, providing a more comfortable experience for users with fine or thin hair without sacrificing grip.
