Haircare experts advise on managing humidity and seasonal damage
Experts are offering guidance on managing hair and scalp health during seasonal shifts characterized by high humidity, such as spring and monsoon seasons.
In Australia, stylist Jaye Edwards of EdwardsAndCo recommends a routine focused on protection and hydration. Key strategies include using UV protection to combat sun exposure, employing anti-humidity products to manage frizz, and using detoxifying products to remove build-up caused by environmental elements.
In India, dermatologist Dr. Vaishnavi Veerapaneni highlighted the risks of humidity, noting that hair strands absorb water which leads to frizz. She also warned that increased sweating and oil production during the monsoon can create environments conducive to fungal growth on the scalp. To maintain health, she suggests a balance between air-drying and controlled blow-drying, advising users to keep heat sources at least six inches away and always use conditioners and heat protectants to avoid hygral fatigue or heat damage.
