Haircare experts highlight common mistakes and safety tips
Haircare experts and specialists have identified several common mistakes in hair maintenance routines, ranging from product application techniques to the use of natural oils.
Professional hairstylists note that a frequent error is the improper use of shampoo. Experts suggest applying shampoo exclusively to the scalp after emulsifying it in the hands, rather than applying it directly or using it on the hair lengths, which can lead to uneven cleaning and dandruff. Other mistakes include washing oily hair too frequently, using deep hydration treatments unnecessarily, and failing to apply heat protectants when using styling tools.
Regarding natural ingredients, rosemary oil has gained popularity on social media for strengthening hair and promoting scalp health. However, experts warn that because it is a highly concentrated essential oil, it must be diluted with a carrier oil—such as jojoba, coconut, or grape seed oil—before application. Direct application can cause redness, itching, or irritation. It is recommended to perform a skin patch test and massage the oil into the scalp with fingertips rather than nails, ensuring it is washed out properly to avoid excessive oiliness.
