Haircare experts offer guidance on managing gray hair
Haircare experts are providing guidance on managing gray hair and debunking common myths regarding its maintenance and removal.
Rosi Fernández, director of the Ananda Ferdi salon in Madrid, advises that using violet shampoo is not always necessary. She warns that improper use of toning products can result in undesirable grayish or dull tones. Instead, she suggests that hair washing frequency should be determined by the condition of the scalp and individual hair needs rather than universal rules.
Regarding the common myth that plucking a gray hair causes more to grow, experts Antonio Abreu and specialists from the Gala Unique aesthetic clinic state this is false. While plucking does not cause hair to multiply—as each hair grows from an independent follicle—it can damage the follicle or irritate the skin. This may prevent the hair from regrowing, ultimately leading to a loss of hair density, which is a common concern during the aging process. Experts recommend cutting the hair instead of pulling it.
