Haircut recommendations for short and medium‑length styles to suit facial shape

Pedro Moreno, Education Manager at Jean Louis David, advises that people with elongated faces avoid styles that add height. He recommends short cuts with texture and side volume—jaw‑length bobs, soft bixies, and pixies with longer tops—stating, “If I had to choose a particularly flattering length, I would stay between the jaw, the chin and the clavicle.” He also notes that side‑swept or light curtain bangs can create visual width.

A separate guide lists five medium‑length layered hairstyles that add movement and volume: a shag cut with pronounced layers; a layered cut with a curtain fringe; a clavicle‑length cut with long layers; a long bob enhanced by layers; and the “butterfly” cut, which blends classic layering with a feminine silhouette. Each style is described as suitable for various hair types and face shapes, emphasizing the balance of length, volume and texture.
