Haitham Hassan's Future Uncertain as Saudi Club Makes Record Offer

A Saudi Arabian club has tabled a financially unprecedented offer for Egyptian winger Haitham Hassan, who currently plays for Spanish side Real Oviedo. The proposal, described as the highest bid the player and club have received, is intended to settle the deal during the current summer transfer window.

Real Oviedo welcomes a sale to alleviate its financial strain and to comply with La Liga's salary‑cap regulations. The club retains a 40 % share of any future resale profit from Hassan's former club Villarreal, which reduces the net amount it would receive. While the club aims to use the proceeds to fund other targets, such as Argentine defender Kevin Lomonaco, Hassan has indicated a preference to remain in Europe, citing his recent performances for the Egypt national team at the 2026 World Cup, notably his impact against Argentina.

Celtic FC of Scotland has also entered the discussion, reportedly prepared to offer between £7 million and £10 million. Negotiations may see the €12 million release clause adjusted downward as both parties seek a mutually acceptable agreement.
