Haiti advances higher education through academic symposiums and French scholarships

Haiti is advancing initiatives to modernize its higher education system and strengthen professional expertise through international cooperation. The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training organized the first Haitian symposium on higher education, bringing together local and international academics from Europe, the Caribbean, and North America. The discussions focused on improving educational quality, research capabilities, governance, and funding mechanisms to better align universities with societal needs.

In a related effort to develop future leaders, a new cohort of Haitian students has been selected to pursue Master 2 studies in France through a scholarship program. Supported by the French Embassy and various Haitian institutional partners, the program aims to build the expertise of young professionals to assist in the country’s long-term development and reconstruction.
