Haiti considers FIFA-standard stadium construction in Les Cayes
The Haitian Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) is considering the construction of a modern football stadium at Parc Larco in Les Cayes. The project aims to create a facility that meets FIFA standards, which would allow Haiti’s national men’s and women’s teams to host international matches at home.
Minister Pythagore Dumas and Director General Wilfince Mombrun conducted a second inspection of the site on October 10, 2026, to evaluate its potential. Before proceeding, the ministry plans to conduct a technical feasibility study to determine if the project is viable. The authorities are currently considering a new construction rather than a simple renovation of the existing park.
Significant obstacles remain, including a land dispute that has hindered the operation of Parc Larco for over a decade. Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé is reportedly involved in efforts to resolve this conflict. Currently, no specific budget, construction timeline, or financing details have been announced.
