Haiti fans host watch parties in US as team faces Brazil in World Cup

With Haiti qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1974, Haitian supporters organized watch parties in the United States. In Texas, the Baptist General Convention of Texas helped First Baptist Church Nederland partner with a church in Haiti to fund streaming equipment and refreshments for local fans, despite unreliable electricity in Haiti. In Brooklyn, the Haiti Cultural Exchange, council member Chi Osse, and Rooftop Films hosted outdoor gatherings on Juneteenth, featuring fashion designs by Haitian‑American label Maison Demar and other creators. Fans dressed in vibrant Caribbean‑inspired outfits to celebrate their nation’s historic appearance as Haiti faced Brazil on June 19, 2026.
