Haiti heatwave warning as temperatures climb to 38°C amid Saharan dust

A weather bulletin for Haiti predicts a very hot and slightly misty day on 28 July 2026, with maximum temperatures expected between 36 °C and 38 °C and minimums from 20 °C to 24 °C. The forecast notes isolated showers may occur in the western, southeast, southern, Nippes and Grande Anse regions later in the afternoon and evening. The presence of Saharan dust in the atmosphere has prompted the UHM, in coordination with relevant authorities, to urge residents to stay hydrated, limit sun exposure between 10 h and 16 h, wear light clothing, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat, monitor vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly, and wear masks to reduce inhalation of dust particles. The outlook for the following days remains dry and hot, with only a slight chance of isolated showers.
