Haiti plans construction of two FIFA-standard football stadiums
Haitian Sports Minister Pythagore Dumas has announced a project to construct two new football stadiums that meet FIFA standards. The goal is to allow the national football team to play international matches within Haiti, which has been unable to host games for several years due to widespread insecurity and gang violence.
The proposed stadiums would be located in the north and south of the country. Funding for these projects is reportedly allocated in the 2026-2027 budget. Dumas recently visited the Larco Park football field in Los Cayos to evaluate the possibility of building a modern stadium in the southern region.
Currently, the national team has had to play home matches in other countries, such as Jamaica, due to safety concerns and recent restrictions from the Dominican Republic regarding match hosting in the country.
