Haiti national football teams achieve historic milestones
Haiti's national football teams are experiencing significant momentum. The men's team, known as the Grenadiers, has secured a historic first qualification for the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals. Despite a 2-0 loss to Costa Rica, their previous victories against Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic ensured their advancement. This success has led to a rise of four places in the FIFA World Rankings, placing Haiti at 84th globally.
Following their performance in the Nations League group stage, three Haitian players—Alexandre Pierre, Danley Jean-Jacques, and Wilson Isidor—were named to the Concacaf Team of the Tournament. Pierre was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the phase.
On the women's side, coach Pia Sundhage has announced a 25-player squad for upcoming international friendlies against Japan and Australia. The roster includes goalkeeper Nelly Maignan, the cousin of French international Mike Maignan, as well as new call-ups Audrey François and Danique Ypema.
